Resort Overview
The Williamsburg Inn and Williamsburg Lodge are the premium hotels in Colonial Williamsburg, in the heart of the 301 acres that make up the living museum envisioned and funded by John D. Rockefeller Jr. The Inn opened in 1937 and went big, with 500-square-foot guest rooms adorned with marble bathrooms and English Regency-style furnishings. The Inn is among the Leading Small Hotels of the World and Historic Hotels of America. the Lodge is a member of the latter.
All income from the hotels support the educational mission of The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the nonprofit organization that runs the historic area. It is in that area that Costumed interpreters tell the stories of the men and women of the 18th-century city.
There are two building to the Lodge, the main building in which many rooms retain their original hardwood floors, and the more contemporary Tazewell Hall. The latest addition are 30 guesthouses that offer a little more room and privacy.
