The Tides Inn
Resort Overview
Bordered by historic Chesapeake Bay to the east, the Potomac River to the north, and the Rappahannock River to the south, the Tides Inn juts into the water, taking up most of a peninsula with views of Carters Creek and the Rappahannock.
The resort, which opened in 1947, has its own 60-slip marina, voted "best resort marina" for four years running by readers of Chesapeake Bay magazine and can handle yachts up to 125 feet. A sailing school can keep you from going adrift and one can rent paddle boats, canoes or kayaks, too.
Activities at the Tides Inn include the Golden Eagle Golf Course, designed by George Cobb, and the Baby Eagle, a complimentary par 3 course.
The 106-room resort is in Irvington on Virginia's Northern Neck and features a full-service spa. You’ll eat well there, too. Its premier restaurant, the Chesapeake Club earned a Wine Spectator award of excellence.
